The daily song

When does the new song come out?

Every day at 12:00 noon Pacific time (Los Angeles time, following daylight saving). Everyone in the world gets the same song and the same four charts at the same moment. The Today screen counts down to the next one.

Can I play without a connection?

If today's song is already downloaded, you can play it offline, but those runs are practice only: they aren't ranked, don't use an attempt and don't count for your streak. A run you started online is saved and sent when you're back online.

The timing feels off, especially with Bluetooth headphones.

Wireless headphones add delay. Open Settings (the gear on the Today screen) > Timing and run the tap test (or move the slider). The game remembers a separate setting for the speaker, wired and wireless headphones.

Attempts and ads

How many tries do I get?

Three free attempts per difficulty per day. An attempt counts as soon as it starts, even if you quit. Your first attempt on each difficulty is your sight-read, ranked on the Sight-reading board; your best run of the day goes on the Practiced board.

How do I get more attempts?

When you're out, watch a short rewarded ad for three more, as many times as you like. Subscribers get extra attempts without watching ads. If an ad finished but the attempts didn't appear, wait half a minute and reopen the song; if they still don't appear, email us.

Streak and library

How does the streak work?

Breach the daily song on any difficulty (Easy is enough) to keep your streak going and add the song to your library. A day you don't breach resets the streak to zero once that day's song closes.

Why is a song in my library locked?

Each day you miss locks one song in your library (nothing is ever deleted). Each day you breach the daily song earns you a song back: pick which locked song to win back in your library. Subscribers' libraries never lock, and subscribing unlocks everything at once.

Subscription and purchases

What does the subscription include?

No ads (extra attempts without watching), practice mode on any song in your library, and a library that never locks. Prices are shown in the app.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Settings > Subscription in the app and tap Restore Purchases, signed in to the same Apple ID you subscribed with. You don't need an account with us.

How do I cancel, or get a refund?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple: on your iPhone go to Settings > your name > Subscriptions, choose Rhythm Breach and cancel at least 24 hours before it renews. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com; we can't issue them ourselves.

Your account and data

Do I need to sign up?

No. The game makes an anonymous account the first time you open it. See the Privacy Policy for what it holds.

How do I delete my data?

In the app: Settings (the gear on the Today screen) > Delete my data. Your account, player name, runs, scores, leaderboard entries, streak, library and attempts are deleted from our server right away, and the app starts over as a new player. Deleting the app alone doesn't delete them. Purchases are handled by Apple, so cancel any subscription separately in your Apple ID settings (the delete screen has a button for it).

You can also email [email protected] with your player name and tag (Settings > Player name), and we'll delete your data within 30 days.

Can I move my progress to a new iPhone?

Not yet. Your streak and library belong to the anonymous account on your iPhone. Reinstalling on the same iPhone keeps it, and a new iPhone set up from an encrypted backup may bring it along, but we can't promise that. Sign in with Apple, to back up your progress and move it between devices, is coming in an update. Your subscription moves with your Apple ID: use Restore Purchases.

How do I change my player name?

Open Settings (the gear on the Today screen) > Player name. Names are 3 to 16 letters, digits, spaces and - _ . and must pass a profanity filter.

Someone on the leaderboard has an offensive name. What can I do?

Tap the … next to their row on the Leaderboards tab and choose Report name. When several players report the same name, it's replaced with one Root generates, and nobody can pick it again. We also review reports ourselves. For anything urgent, email [email protected].

My name was changed to one I didn't pick. Why?

Other players reported it, so Root replaced it. You can pick a new name in Settings > Player name, as long as it isn't the reported one.
